Acne Journey Update

If you’re reading this because you suffer with acne… I’m really sorry. As someone that has suffered far too long with acne, it breaks my heart that you are struggling as well. I hope my tips/tricks, and routine help you! If you haven’t followed my journey from the beginning, I highly suggest you go watch my “Acne Journey” highlight on Insta so you can better understand my kind of acne and what all i’ve tried along the way.   • April 2019, cystic acne, full face of makeup, cried everyday

  • Feb 2020, barely any makeup (light powder) no foundation, sometimes still cry during a flare up, but skin is cleaning up

PRODUCTS I’M USING CURRENTLY (click to shop)

My Routine Broken Down

  • Tretinoin (Acne cream)

    • I put this all over me face before bed

    • My dermatologist recommended this

  • Benzoyl Peroxide (AM only)

    • I wash my face, then apply this, then moisturizer, then makeup

  • 64 oz of water everyday (if not more)

    • This was really hard for me at first, but I built up to it

    • My favorite water bottle is here ( helps you track)

    • I try to do 32 oz before noon, then casually sip the rest of the day to get to 64oz

    • I chug as much as I can first thing in the morning to get it out of the way

  • Celery Juice (16oz or more) every morning on an empty stomach

  • Warm lemon water (in a coffee mug) every morning

    • This helps detox your body naturally

  • Alani Nu Balance (hormone balancer for acne)

    • These pills are controversial right now, but i’ll be taking them this month and maybe easing off of them when the bottle is gone and hope my skin continues to stay clean

    • I don’t plan to take supplements for my skin forever

  • Ice Roller (all over my face) every morning

    • This helps with inflammation

  • Antibacterial pillow case

    • Think about how much dead skin comes off our faces while we sleep

    • We’re also sweating and our dirty hair rubs on our pillowcase, then were putting our face on it… EW

    • SO… this pillow case helps to kill bacteria

  • Antibacterial face towel

    • Helps kill bacteria

  • Beauty Bio Cleanser (AM & PM)

    • Recently started using this and am loving it

  • Tula Gel Moisturizer (AM only before my makeup)

    • Light weight, gel based, thin

  • Mario Badescu Spot Treatment

    • This is the same product that Kylie Jenner claims to use

    • I’ve used it since high school

    • I place it on my big blemishes (last step) and sleep with it on

  • Dr Dennis Gross at home chemical peel sheets

    • I’ve been using these 2x a week

    • You don’t actually peel (so don’t be afraid)

  • Dairy & Gluten Free

    • I usually do this about 80% of the time

  • Limit alcohol & sugar

    • These both feed bacteria in our gut and bodies and with acne you’re trying to kill the bad bacteria
