Let’s get packing!

Here we go…

We all know traveling is stressful enough, why does packing have to be so darn hard as well. It’s honestly something that gives me a bit of anxiety. If that sounds silly to you, you must not be a type A perfectionist lol. I’m a bit of a control freak (shhh don’t tell anyone) so I find packing a bit overwhelming. With my current job I’m always traveling and on the go, last minute. SO I like to think i’ve learned a thing or two along the way. Below are some tips and tricks to packing that have really helped me. Side note: So many of ya’ll asked about my new luggage when I posted it on IG story... I’ve added pictures below with a shop-able link.

1.) Get your schedule/ itinerary in order

  • Ask your friends, family, work, etc. what activities, events, and things you will be doing so you can pack appropriately

    • You don’t want to pack ALL fancy attire if ya’ll are going to McDonalds. lol

  • Check the weather

  • Just because you’re going to Florida, doesn’t mean it’s not rainy season.

  • Just because you’re going to Colorado in the winter, doesn’t mean they aren’t having a hot week.

  • Check the 10 day forecast a couple of days before so you’re not stuck with the complete wrong clothes.

2.) Plan each outfit according to whats on the agenda for the trip

  • There are a number of ways to do this

    • Write down your events and outfits on paper, then pack

    • Write out your events and outfits in your phone notes, then pack

    • Or just toss it all in the suitcase as it comes to your head

3.) Pack the basics as back up

  • As long as you have the basics; you won’t be upset wishing you’d brought something else.

    • Jeans, sneakers, black/white tank, nude bra, nude undies, a jacket of some sort, a workout outfit (for a random outdoor activity), a swimsuit (just incase).

  • This way you’re prepared for everything

4.) Make a list of your “Must Haves”… here are mine…

  • Medicine; DayQuil, NyQuil, Clarion, Advil

  • Toiletries; Makeup, contacts, tooth brush/paste, dry shampoo, tampons

  • Other: License, money, phone, phone charger, speciifc outfit for important event (ex: wedding dress, brides maid dress, cocktail dress), computer, iPad, etc.

    • Once this list is complete in my phone or hand written… I make sure to check it AGAIN moments before I leave the house JUST INCASE.

5.) ROLL don’t fold

  • I’m the definition fo an over packer, I like to always check my bags, so that I can have extra stuff (yes this leaves room for error, like the airline losing your bag, but oh well)

  • Ya’ll this is a crucial tip. I can’t begin to tell you how much MORE you can fit in your bag if you roll instead of fold.

6.) Purchase a travel bag organizer (Here’s mine: seen below)

  • This has saved my life ya’ll!

  • Purpose?

    • This helps me keep my outfits organized and separated

    • It keeps your undies & bras separate from your clothes

    • It keeps your workout clothes separate from regular clothes

    • It keeps your shoes away from your nice clothes

    • It keeps your important items away from any spills or water damage (waterproof)
