South Beach Miami Travel Guide

Miami, Florida will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first vacation Devin (my boyfriend) and I ever went on. We have now been three times together and it’s one of my favorite spots. There is so much to do in South Beach no matter what type of trip you have in mind; party trip, family vacay, romantic trip, relaxing getaway, etc. Below you will find places to stay, airports to fly into, restaurants, clubs, things to do, and even shop my outfits. If you’re more of a visual video person, watch my Miami trip highlights on my Instagram named; Miami, Miami 2, Miami 3—-> click here!

Travel:

There are two different airports you can fly into, I’ve done both:

Miami International Airport:

  • Quick and easy access to South Beach. For us, it was only a 15 minute Uber ride depending on traffic.

Fort Lauderdale Airport:

  • This airport is 37 miles from South Beach, which is about a 50 minute Uber ride, depending on traffic.

Stay:

W South Beach Hotel: We stayed at the W Hotel for our most recent trip (April 2021) and were overjoyed at how amazing it was.

  • The pool was stunning, not necessarily kid friendly, loud/fun DJ music

  • Room service was delicious

  • Beach & ocean access

  • Walking/running trail access, bike rentals

  • Massive top-of-the-line gym plus complimentary water

  • I would consider this a good hotel to stay if you’re looking for a fancy/party vibe

  • Walking distance to SLS (day club)

  • This hotel is located more North South Beach

Marriott Stanton South Beach: We have stayed at this hotel two different times. It’s my absolute favorite for a more casual, relaxing vacation.

  • Clean rooms, comfortable beds

  • Small gym

  • Food: Starbucks inside the hotel, yummy Mexican food spot, great guacamole at the pool

  • Beach & ocean access

  • Running & walking trail just out the back of the hotel, & bike rental

  • Walking distance to Niki Beach (day club), Pura Vida (healthy food spot), and many other spots

  • Added perk for kiddos: there is a large kid’s park directly next to the hotel

  • This hotel is located at the bottom of South Beach

Day Clubs:

Nikki Beach: This is what I believe you could consider a ‘day club’, but there is no pool. The entire place has sand with tables and day beds scattered around, with pretty attention to detail to the decor and lush landscaping. My boyfriend and I have been to this day club numerous times. Both times were during COVID, so the number of people were limited and it was fairly empty (which we preferred). We sat at a table and enjoyed a few drinks and lunch. You can also sit at a daybed and layout or relax.

SLS Hyde Beach Club: I’m not much of a club girl, but had a great time at the SLS day club. Go here if. you’re looking for a PARTAYYY!

  • Make reservations ahead

  • Live & loud DJ party type spot; great for bachelorette/bachelor party

  • Delicious burger, fries, and salads

  • Pool and cabana areas

  • Walking distance from W Hotel

Healthy/ Casual Food:

Pura Vida: This is my favorite quick, easy, healthy option in South Beach. We have probably been there about 10 times throughout 3 trips. We even downloaded the app so we can order quickly. They also have many locations.

  • Go-To Food Orders:

    • Spicy Tuna Bowl

    • Mango Salmon Bowl

    • Shave Brussels Salad

  • Drink Orders:

    • Iced Almond Milk Latte (add stevia)

    • Iced Almond Milk Matcha Latte (add stevia)

    • All the frozen smoothies

Dinner Spots:

Smith & Wollensky: This is one of our favorite restaurants in South Beach. We went on two different vacations. One dinner was a triple date with my boyfriend’s family, and one was a massive white-out themed family dinner over Christmas.

  • Steakhouse and seafood restaurant

  • On the water with stunning views

  • I would consider this a classy & nice dinner location (not a party loud spot)

  • Indoor & outdoor seating, downstairs & deck seating

  • Walking distance from the Stanton Marriott Hotel

Eden Roc Hotel- Malibu Farm: We ate at this spot with Devin’s parents and family, and really enjoyed it!

  • One of the restaurants at the hotel

  • Dine by the water with a stunning view

  • Indoor & outdoor seating

  • Delicious appetizers and food

  • Quick & easy walk to the beach

  • Close to W hotel

Baia Beach Club:

  • Stunning Ocean views (no beach)

  • Beautiful outdoor restaurant with unique decor

  • Delicious Espresso Martini & Skinny Margaritas

  • We had appetizers & drinks here around 6pm

  • Perfect date spot

Astra -

  • We went here with a group of 8 (4 couples) at around 10pm for a late rooftop dinner, and drinks. I would suggest this spot if you’re looking for a fun, young party vibe.

  • Very loud music & lots of people

  • Fun party atmosphere

  • Located in the Design District

Big Pink -

  • Family friendly

  • Very casual & affordable indoor & outdoor dinner

  • Delicious food

  • Walking distance from Marriott Stanton Hotel
